Novitec Tridente Sharpens up the Maserati Ghibli

Novitec Tridente Maserati Ghibli

It’s time to plug-and-play!

The introduction of the Maserati Ghibli showed that the Italian automaker was serious about not just generating more sales, but creating a better option for those in the luxury sedan market. So far, the Ghibli has been a success in both areas, with the model accounting for more than 60-percent of total Maserati sales, according to Ward’s Automotive. Novitec Tridente believes that it can enhance the performance side of things with their new range of engine tunes, aerodynamics, and chassis upgrades.

Unlike Maseratis in the past, there’s an oil-burning torque monster offered in the form of a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6. Novitec Tridente was able to turn it up a notch with the N-Tronic tune that adds 47 horsepower and 59 lb-ft. of torque for a total of 322 horsepower at 3,800 RPM and 501 lb-ft. at 2,200 RPM. That’s good enough to send the sport sedan to 62 mph in just 5.6 seconds – on par with the standard Ghibli variant. The tax-evading 250-horsepower version in Italy can also be boosted up to 310 horsepower and 501 lb-ft. with the same tuning module.

In the potent 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 engines in the Maserati Ghibli, Novitec Tridente serves up quite a bit of power with their N-Tronic auxiliary control unit. The recalibrated mapping and additional boost pressure cranks up the output to 476 horsepower and 472 lb-ft. of torque from 1,700 to 4,900 RPM. This enables the all-wheel drive Ghibli S Q4 to reach 62 mph in just 4.4 seconds from rest and hit a top speed of 183 mph.

The job of putting all that power to the asphalt rests on the new one-piece forged Novitec Tridente NM1 alloy wheels in a silver, matte black, titanium, or polished titanium finish. The Maserati Ghibli wears the five double-spoke wheels in a 22-inch diameter with Pirelli P Zero tires measuring 255/30 ZR 22 front and 315/25 ZR 22 at the rear. Working in cooperation with the large wheels is a height, rebound, and compression-adjustable stainless steel coilover setup that can be installed on all the model variants. For the all-wheel drive Maserati Ghibli S Q4, a set of sport springs can be installed that lowers the ride height by 35 mm.

There are some owners that like to fly a bit under the radar with their upgrades hidden beneath the hood, but Novitec Tridente has a clear-coated carbon fiber aerodynamic kit for those that want to make their presence known. The kit includes a lift-reducing front spoiler, pair of side skirts, and rear spoiler that all work to enhance the Ghibli’s overall aerodynamics.

All of the featured upgrades are currently available for the Maserati Ghibli models and the range of engines. The N-Tronic engine tunes start at 1,290 Euros while the wheel and tire packages start at 3,980 Euros. The carbon fiber aerodynamic kit is available for 3,120 Euros.
